The Professional Development Scholarship is an award to attend the annual Illinois TESOL-BE convention. This award consists of convention registration and either accommodations for Friday night, or up to $50 worth of transportation expenses, reimbursed upon receipt. A maximum of ten Professional Development Scholarships are awarded each year. For more information on other awards, view the Awards webpage.
Eligibility Requirements:
A practicing or retired TESOL or bilingual education professional or a student enrolled full or part-time in an accredited training program in TESOL or bilingual education can apply for the Illinois TESOL-BE award to attend the annual convention. An applicant must show financial need and be a member of Illinois TESOL-BE. (Individuals receiving institutional support for professional expenses are not eligible.)
How to Apply for a Professional Development Scholarship Award
Submit:

On a separate sheet of paper, submit a written statement (word-processed & double-spaced) in which you explain how you will benefit from attending the Illinois TESOL-BE State Convention. Include also a brief statement of financial need.

A letter from your employer or academic program head verifying employment or academic enrollment and financial need. (NOTE: Individuals whose employers offer financial support for professional activities are not eligible.)

The Professional Development Scholarship application, sent by December 20, 2011 (postmarked).
