Elisa Marquez, Past President, Nominations Chair

Elisa G. Márquez is Lead Mentor Teacher for the Multicultural Arts School Campus at Little Village Lawndale High School, Chicago where she also served as Bilingual Lead Teacher, ESL & Special Education Teacher. Elisa holds certifications in Bilingual Special Education, Special Education, and Elementary Education with endorsements in ESL Bilingual, Bilingual Special Ed and Learning Disabilities. She supports approximately 85 students and teaches ESL and bilingual special education as well.

 

Debbie Sternecky, Executive Secretary

Debbie Sternecky received a BS in Business Administration from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MS. Ed. from Northern Illinois University. She teaches middle school ELLs in Naperville District 203, as well as technology for ESL teachers at National Louis University. Previously, Debbie taught computer applications courses at College of DuPage for 15 years. She has presented at both the ITBE and IRC statewide conventions.

 

Susanne McLaughlin, Treasurer

Susanne McLaughlin is the director of the English Language Program at Roosevelt University. Before accepting the job at Roosevelt University, she taught for many years at the University of Pittsburgh English Language Institute, where she was the CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) Coordinator. Susanne is a Past Chair of the CALL Interest Section of TESOL and is currently the Chair of the TESOL Rules and Resolutions Committee.

 

Marsha Santelli, Director of Exhibits & Advertising

Marsha is a founding member, has served in each elected office, and currently is Exhibits and Advertising Director, the liaison with publishers and vendors. When employed in Chicago Public Schools, she taught ESL and Bilingual Education, coordinated these programs in the former Subdistrict 2, and was principal of an elementary school. Now she is a freelance consultant doing teacher training, program design, curriculum development and mentoring of both teachers and new administrators.
