Special Interest Groups
Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are subgroups of the Illinois TESOL-BE membership that are formed around particular education levels: Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Adult Education, Higher Education and Graduate Student. Illinois TESOL-BE members are allowed to join one SIG. SIG membership is free and included in ITBE membership.
Each year, the SIG members meet at least 2 times (at the Annual Convention and the Fall Workshop) and plan activities that address issues that interest them. Each SIG member elects a chairperson, who serves a one-year term on the ITBE Executive Board and who acts as a liaison between the SIG members and the Board. SIG activities are planned by SIG members for SIG members.

Get your pencils ready for Illinois TESOL-BE's Secondary Ed Writing Contest! The Illinois TESOL-BE Secondary Ed SIG will be holding its Secondary Writing Contest.
Specific guidelines and deadlines are available on the Writing Contest webpage. Winners for each category will be announced on at the Illinois TESOL-BE Convention in Naperville, Illinois.
